What is robotic welding?

Robotic welding uses programmable robots to perform welding operations with consistent motion, speed, and path control. Parts are held in fixtures, and the robotic welding system follows a taught or programmed path to produce welds with repeatable size and location. Robotic welding is ideal for production parts and assemblies that run repeatedly.

Robotic welding is a strong fit when:

  • Parts or assemblies repeat in volume
  • Weld locations and orientations are consistent from part to part
  • You want very consistent weld size and appearance
  • Reduced cycle time and labor per part are important

Manual welding is often used for prototypes, small batches, or complex weldments that change frequently. Many projects use both: manual welding for development and early builds, then robotic welding for established production.

Robotic welding works best for:

  • Brackets, frames, and subframes
  • Structural components that repeat in volume
  • Weldments built from laser cut and formed components
  • Assemblies where weld locations are consistent and accessible

If your parts can be consistently fixtured and accessed by the robot, they are often good candidates for robotic welding.
